Can admins change a user's role or type?
We refer to user 'roles' in LightRocket. The roles that exist in LightRocket are the following
- System Admin
- Archive Admin
- Contributor
- Client
If a user has signed up as a Client user but would like to become a contributor, admins can change the user's role directly in the manage users section of the Admin area.
To change a user's role
- Click on the 'edit' for the selected user
- In the pop out panel on the right click the 'change'
- And in the pop up modal select the new role you wish to assign to the user

Can I install LightRocket on a local/internal server?
You can't install LightRocket on a local server.
But the good news is that we'll take care of hosting for you. Our system runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS), which is the gold standard for hosting, ensuring strong security and great performance.
Check out our plans to see what's on offer in terms of storage, and feel free to be in touch if you need to customize your plan.
If you're an Enterprise user, and you need your own dedicated AWS server, that's possible too.

Can I customise my system?
The quick answer is absolutely yes. Just let us know your requirements and we'll quote for the time and resources needed.
However, LightRocket is actually being customized all the time. New ideas, often from our clients, are regularly transformed into additional features and functionality.
These standard upgrades are included in your annual support and upgrades package.
It's a platform that just keeps getting better. -
How can admins grant view/download permissions to registered users?
Admins can grant view or download permissions to registered users as follows:
- Log in as an admin and browse to the Admin section of your platform.
- Click on the 'Manage Users' section
- Click on the 'edit' button at the end of the record row of the user to whom you wish to grant view/download permissions
Browse to the 'Permissions' section of the pop-out side panel and select the view/download permissions you wish to grant. Not that you can also opt to set a time limit on the permissions.

Migrating data/files from an existing system...
If you already have a DAM system, we'll need to migrate your existing data to your new LightRocket platform.
Don't worry, our team has plenty of experience migrating data from legacy systems.
The complexity of data migration can vary significantly though, so if you do need data to be migrated from a legacy system, please let us know so we can evaluate your existing setup.

How can I restrict access to certain files?
Admins can restrict access to selected files.
Select the file(s), choose the 'set access' option in the drop down list that appears under 'actions'. In the pop-up choose the level of access you wish to set.
This means that only registered users with corresponding access permissions will be able to view or view/download (depending on permissions granted) the file(s) for which access has been set.

Admins can grant access rights in the user management area.
By default we offer two levels of access - 'internal' and 'confidential' - but these can be renamed and you can add additional access levels if you wish.
